Women’s Lacrosse Falls 18-7 to No. 1 Boston College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (5-2, 0-1) suffered an 18-7 loss to No. 1 Boston College on Tuesday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Brown opened the game on a 2-0 run on goals from Maddie Joyce and Leah Caputo, the two goals came 32 seconds apart early in the first quarter. Following the goals from Joyce and Caputo, the Eagles closed the first quarter on a 4-0 run to take a 4-2 lead into the second frame.
Boston College continued its run in the second quarter as they scored three consecutive goals to take a 7-2 advantage before Avery Doran stopped the run with a goal, the Eagles took a 7-3 lead into halftime.
After the Eagles opened the second half with a goal, Avery Doran found the back of the net for the second time to cut the deficit to 8-4. Following Doran's goal, the Eagles went on a 3-0 run to give them an 11-4 advantage. A goal from Sydney Rathjen ended the run before the Eagles added two more goals in the third to take a 13-6 lead. Carly Camphausen found the back of the net with 10 seconds remaining in the frame to cut the deficit to 13-6 entering the fourth quarter.
The Eagles outscored the Bears 5-1 in the final 15 minutes as RIley Peterson scored the lone goal for the Bears in the quarter.
Doran led all Bears with two goals as Doran, Rathjen, Burton, and Caputo each had two points. In her first career start, Anne Booth made nine saves as Beth Anderson recorded a game-high seven draw controls.
Brown will continue Ivy League play on Saturday, Mar. 22 when they welcome No. 6 Yale to Stevenson-Pincince Field at 1:00 p.m.
