Pineau and Scott Named Finalists for Major ECAC Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two sophomores – Alex Pineau and Max Scott – were named finalists for major ECAC Awards, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Pineau is a finalist for the Howie's Best Defensive Defenseman and Scott is a finalist for the Gladiator Best Defensive Forward.
In the ECAC regular season, Pineau led the league with 64 blocked shots and was 22 ahead of RPI's Elliott McDermott, who finished second in the conference. Pineau also tallied four goals and 10 points in league games.
Overall, Pineau finished the season with 84 blocked shots and tallied seven goals and 16 points in 32 games. He ranks second in the NCAA in time on ice per game at 27:33, trailing only Northeastern's Vinny Borgesi.
Scott picks up finalist honors for the Gladiator Best Defensive Forward Award after a standout sophomore campaign. The captain finished the 22-game conference slate with eight goals and 18 points to rank 16th in the conference in scoring.
Scott also recorded 28 blocked shots in conference games and led the ECAC with 341 faceoffs won, 69 more than the next skater. He won 56.2% of his faceoffs in league play.
Overall, Scott ranks fifth in the NCAA with 398 faceoffs won and he finished the 32-game season with a team-leading 12 goals and ranked third on the Bears with 26 points.
