Men’s Basketball Suffers 74-72 Loss at Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Brown men's basketball team (10-10, 2-5), held a 69-59 lead with 3:58 remaining in the second half, but Columbia (12-8, 1-6) closed the game on a 15-3 run to earn the victory on Saturday.
Blair Thompson's layup with six seconds left gave the Lions a 74-72 lead, it was Columbia's first lead of the game. Kino Lilly Jr. had a chance to win the game but his three-point attempt hit the rim at the buzzer, giving Columbia its first Ivy League win of the season.
The Bears built their lead early on with an 11-0 run to open the contest, they led by as much as 14 in the first half and their largest lead was 15 with 9:37 remaining in the second half.
As a team, Brown shot 64.3 percent from the floor and 21.4 percent from three-point range. The Bears shot an efficient 64.3 percent in the opening 20 minutes. Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson led the Bears offensively with a career-high 16 points on 7-8 shooting to go along with six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.
After a three-game absence, Landon Lewis returned to the lineup with 14 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor to go along with three blocks.
The Lions outscored the Bears 12-2 on points from turnovers in the second half. In the pain, Brown outscored Columbia 48-34.
Brown will begin a four-game home stand when they welcome Princeton (Feb. 14) at 7:00 p.m. and Penn (Feb. 15) at 6:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
