PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Ryan St. Louis and sophomore Lawton Zacher have been named semifinalists for the 72nd Walter Brown Award, given annually to the best American-born Division I player in New England.
The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston announced the 26-player list on Thursday.
St. Louis earns a semifinalist nod for the second straight season. The forward tallied the game-winner in last night's win at Yale and ranks fourth on the team with 16 points despite only playing in 13 games.
The Old Greenwich, Connecticut native has six multi-point games this season and the Bears are a perfect 5-0 when he finds the back of the net.
Zacher earns Walter Brown recognition for the first time in his career in his standout sophomore season. The goaltender is also a Hobey Baker Memorial Award nominee, and one of 35 goalies named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List.
On the season, Zacher owns a 10-6-2 record along with a .932 save percentage and 2.10 goals against average. His save percentage leads the ECAC and ranks eighth in the NCAA while his goals against average leads the conference and is 12th nationally.
Brown is one of seven teams with two or more semifinalists. Boston College leads the pack with four selections while Boston University, UConn, New Hampshire, Northeastern, and Quinnipiac all have two.
The Brown duo mark two of five ECAC players named to the list. They are joined by CJ Foley (Dartmouth), Jeremy Wilmer (Quinnipiac, and Dylan Silverstein (Quinnipiac).
The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston will announce the award winner in the final week of March.
The Bears return to action on Sunday to host the Yale Bulldogs to close out the regular season series. Sunday's game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will broadcast locally on NESN and stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.
