Brown Defeats Harvard in Final Ivy League Dual Competition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bears faced off against the Harvard Crimson on Friday night and came away with a resounding 36-6 victory. It is the first Ivy League win for the Bears this year and serves as a springboard into the final matchup of the regular season on Saturday against Sacred Heart.
Several Brown wrestlers recorded pinfall victories against Harvard, with the headliner being Alex Semenenko (285) picking up his 12th pinfall victory of the season against Jeffrey Crooks (Harvard). Semenenko continues to build momentum for postseason competition, as he is now tied for 4th in NCAA DI in falls with Brian Soldano (Rutgers).
Ian Oswalt (141) and Connor O'Donnell (184) also won by way of pinfall against Jameson Garcia (Harvard) and Luke Rada (Harvard). Oswalt picked up his first pinfall and Ivy League victories of the season, while Connor O'Donnell scored his fourth pinfall victory, first Ivy League win, and first dual competition win of the season.
Hunter Adrian (133), Joey Iamunno (149), Blake Saito (157), and Drew Clearie (174) all won their respective matches by decision on Friday night, defeating Logan Brzozowski (Harvard), Jaden Pepe (Harvard), Jimmy Harrington (Harvard), and Haden Bottiglieri (Harvard).
Saito, who came into the match ranked #31 overall for his weight class, is now 10-3 overall and 5-3 in dual competition as he returns from a lower body injury suffered against Penn a few weeks ago. Much like Semenenko, he has built an impressive resume leading up to postseason competition, as he aims to secure a spot in the NCAA Championships this March.
Adrian (6-5) and Iamunno (12-11) both go above .500 on the season with their victories, while Freshman Drew Clearie records his second Ivy League win of the year (2-5).
"It is good to get back in the win column and it is a valuable culture win for all of us, especially for the upperclassmen who have invested so much into this program. I was proud of the way the guys competed. It was fun to see Connor O'Donnell step in on short notice and get a fall in his first career Ivy dual," said Head Coach Jordan Leen.
