Women’s Tennis Sweeps Stony Brook on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's tennis team (3-5) posted a 7-0 clean sweep over the Stony Brook Seawolves (3-2) on Saturday morning at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
"Good day for the Bears today. We came out strong in doubles, and took the momentum into our singles play," Broadbent Family Women's Tennis Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "All players were able to problem-solve and figure out a way to close out all matches. We keep building on the progress the players have been making in the past few weeks, and I look forward to our next competition," Schmidhauser added.
The Bears started off the match strong, earning the doubles point after posting wins at the second and third lines. The doubles pairing of sophomore Dani Ben-Abraham and first-year Bella Hu had a quick 6-1 finish over Stony Brook's Mia Palladino and Sara Annamaria Medved. Junior Anne Moody and sophomore Anne Yang also earned a 6-1 win over Cornelia Bruu-Syversen and Isadora Fares, clinching the doubles point.
Brown continued to power through the rest of their matches, sweeping the Seawolves in singles. Senior Addison Ahlstrom defeated Stony Brook's Palladino in three sets 5-7, 6-0, 6-0 at the first line. In second singles, first-year Ali Maguy took down Lobo-Corral in two sets, 6-3, 7-5. Yang beat Bruu-Syversen 6-0, 6-4 at the third line. First-year Sari Woo downed Charles in two sets 6-1, 7-5. Ben-Abraham defeated Sara Annamaria Medved 6-1, 6-1. Hu capped off the day with a win over Pares 6-6, 0-1.
