Semenenko Named to Weekly Ivy League Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Alex Semenenko (285) was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Tuesday afternoon, highlighting his achievements in the classroom as well as on the mat. The official Ivy League release can be found HERE.
Semenenko enters the final stretch of the regular season with a 17-11 overall record, going 5-4 against the Ivy League and 5-5 in dual competition.
His power and technical prowess has been on display often, as his 11 pinfalls put him in the top five in NCAA DI. His fastest pinfall victory was in 32 seconds against Bryson Harrington (Pittsburgh) on January 10.
"On the mat, Alex is operating in another gear this year. He has been training at a higher level and is really enjoying his opportunities to compete. He is coming into his own and becoming a fan favorite," said Head Coach Jordan Leen.
Coach Leen would go on to say, "When he is at his best he is tactical, patient, and explosive. His intelligence shines through. His intelligence and work ethic are also shining outside the wrestling room and in the classroom. Alex is always thinking and growing. He is a cultured guy who has been around the world and speaks five languages. He was basically our tour guide and travel coordinator when we went to Paris this past Summer to watch the Olympic Games."
Semenenko has been able to build momentum on and off the mat, as he aims to qualify for the NCAA DI Championships in March. He will be in action on Friday, February 21, as the Bears head to Cambridge to take on the Harvard Crimson in their final Ivy League bout of the regular season.
