Chidinma Agbasi Breaks School Record Among Strong Track and Field Performances

NEW HAVEN, Conn., BOSTON, Mass. – The Bears Track and Field teams split up this weekend, competing at the Yale Giegengack Invitational and Boston University Valentine Invitational.
MEN
YALE GIEGENGACK INVITATIONAL
Junior Elias Archie placed ninth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.91, narrowly missing the final. He also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.58.
Gabriel Thai set personal records in the 800 meter run and pole vault. He finished 22nd in the 800 meter with a time of 2:12.39 and fifth with a mark of 4.55 meters.
In the men's long jump Adeposi Aderogba (4th/6.99m) and Joseph Oduro (6th/6.85m) competed for Brown.
Keith Daigneau set a personal record in the weight throw, placing second with a mark of 19.70 meters.
BU VALENTINE INVITATIONAL
First-year John Mueller set a PR in the 400 meter run with a time of 50.42.
John Ryan set a new PR in the mile run, finishing with a time of 4:10.62.
In the 3000 meter run, three Bears runners set personal records. Sebastian Margetts placed 115th with a time of 8:08.87 which is 10th best in school history. Justin Hickey finished 167th with a time of 8:18.67 and Tommy Gaffey was 196th with a time of 8:25.85.
The 4x400 relay team finished 12th with a time of 3:17.13, which was a season best. The team consisted of Jason Estrada, Aaron Caveney, John Mueller and Jake Haley.
The Men's distance medley relay squad ran the fastest of the season with a time of 10:19.72. The team included Nicholas Strayer, Colin Fisher, Matthew Wing and Cameron Walter.
WOMEN
YALE GIEGENGACK INVITATIONAL
Rosie Volpintesta set a personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.87, placing 14th. First-year Maria Camposano also set a PR with a time of 2:41.79 and placing 23rd.
Veronica Ambrosionek set a personal record in the mile run with a time of 5:12.33 good for 15th place.
Simone Dunbar set a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.70 seconds, placing second.
Junior Nene Mokonchu finished first in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters.
Delaney Seligmann won the long jump event with a mark of 5.95 meters.
Jada Joseph finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 12.82 meters.
Chidinma Agbasi won the weight throw event while setting the school record in the weight throw with a mark of 19.72 meters, topping her previous record of 19.54.
BU VALENTINE INVITATIONAL
Alyssa Jackson was 15th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.91 and Kareema McKenzie set a personal record with a time of 25.44.
Anna Pollak (17th/57.91) and Elle Riley (19th/58.06) highlighted the women's 400 meter dash.
Nina Kruzewska set a personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.27.
Emily Mrakovcic finished 20th in the 1000 meter race, with a personal record time of 2:54.35.
Maxine Montoya finished 122nd in the 5000 meter run with a personal record time of 17:07.39.
The 4x400 relay team ran a season-best 3:45.74, earning seventh place. The team consisted of Kate Scanlan, Alyssa Jackson, Anna Pollak and Maddelynn Brooks.
UP NEXT
The Bears will be back in action at home on Saturday, February 22 with the Brown Invitational.
