Track and Field Hosts Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown track and field programs hosted their second home meet of the season with the Brown Invitational. The Bears men's teams placed third, scoring 73 points. The Bears women's team finished first of 11 teams, scoring 120 points.
MEN
The men's 60 meter finals featured sophomore Skyler Hall who finished second with a time of 7.09. First-year Andreas Nikolopoulos set a personal record with a time of 7.31.
The men's 500 meter race featured Cameron Walter (2nd/1:07.07) and Nicholas Strayer (3rd/1:08.98). Colin Fisher finished first and set a personal record with a time of 2:30.59 in the men's 1000 meter competition.
First-year Luke Bodden finished second in the mile run with a time of 4:35.05. Sam Colton finished third in the 3000 meter race with a time of 8:49.31. Kit Jackson set a PR and finished sixth with a time of 8:51.89.
First-year Link Lignell set a PR in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.61. The 4x400 relay team of Fisher, Jackson, Bodden and Strayer finished first with a time of 3:35.21.
In the high jump, Hunter Springer finished fifth with a mark of 1.77 meters. The long jump featured Gabriel Thai who finished ninth with a mark of 6.04 meters.
Thai also competed in the shot put, setting a PR and finishing eighth with a mark of 12.15 meters. Ethan Wordell (3rd/16.68m) and James Chafouleas (10th/14.62m) competed in the weight throw. Chafeouleas set a new personal record.
WOMEN
Katrina Sortland finished second in the 500 meter race with a time of 1:17.94. The 800 meter race featured three finishers, including Emily Mrakovcic (1st/2:15.90), Lillian Kaelber (2nd/2:20.57) and Juli Gonzalez (2:24.91).
The 1000 meter race included a first place finish by Julia Schriefer with a time of 2:56.66. Olivia Fraga set a personal record with a time of 2:58.37. The women's mile featured Julia Soderbery (4th/5:19.82) and Sarah Paul (5th/5:22.36). Veronica Ambrosionek was third in the 3000 meter race with a time of 11:05.36.
In the 60 meter hurdles Kareema McKenzie set a new personal record and finished third with a time of 8.97. Adanna Obuba set a PR in the high jump with a mark of 1.51 meters. Rosie Volpintesta was the top Bear in the long jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 5.19 meters.
Michelyn Appiah finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 13.03 meters and Nicolette Ducharme was sixth with a mark of 12.22 meters. Amiya Hopkins was eighth with a mark of 11.78 meters and Lydia Kentis was ninth with a mark of 11.75 meters. Volpintesta (11m) and Maria Camposano (7.61m) set personal records.
Five Bears competed in the weight throw including Chidinma Agbasi (1st/18.98m), Zoe Carter-Konate (3rd/16.93m), Michelyn Appiah (4th/16.62m), Giana DeCesare (5th/16.24m) and Sophia Gallucci (11th/14.44m).
UP NEXT
The Bears were without some key contributors as they prepare for next week. They will head to Ithaca, New York to compete at the indoor Ivy League Heps on March 1-2.
