Wrestling Travels for Hustle in the Heartland & Cougar Clash Open

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown wrestling team looks ahead to its last two competitions of 2025, with the Hustle in the Heartland and Cougar Clash scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3, and Sunday, Dec. 5, respectively. The Bears will take on No. 6 Nebraska at 6 p.m. CT and LIU at 8 p.m. CT on Friday at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles, Mo., and travel to Edwardsville, Ill., for the Cougar Clash at First Community Arena on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT. Â
DUAL MEET DOMINANCE
Bruno dominated in the first dual meet of the season against the Davidson Wildcats on Nov. 15, winning with a final score of 35-15. Jared Brunner, Austin McBurney, Ethan Mojena, Max Norman, Thomas Sandoval, Andrew Reall, and Alex Semenenko all secured victories. They plan to add more wins to their record on Friday.Â
EARLY SEASON INVITATIONAL SUCCESS
Brown is set to compete against Illinois, Little Rock, Missouri, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma State, and host SIUE on Sunday. The Bears have four wrestlers who have won their weight classes at an invitational this season: Austin McBurney (149), Max Norman (165), Andrew Reall (197), and Alex Semenenko (285), with Norman, Reall, and Semenenko earning two invite titles this fall (Nov. 16 at Black Knight Army Invitational and Nov. 23 at the Big Red Invitational). McBurney won his weight class at the Black Knight Army Invitational after finishing 4-0 that day.Â
NATIONAL STANDOUTS
Andrew Reall (197) is ranked 31st nationally in his weight class by FloWrestling, starting the season with an impressive 12-1 record. Reall, who has a 24-17 overall record since beginning his collegiate career last season, has won twice by pinfall (fastest being 3:47 against Army's Jackson Van Kley on Nov. 2), twice by major decision, and five times by tech fall. Joining Andrew in the national rankings is freshman standout Max Norman (165), who is 29th overall in his weight class according to FloWrestling. Norman holds a 9-2 record this season, including a 3-1 record against ranked opponents, and has yet to lose (3-0) since being ranked after the Army Invitational on Nov. 16. Additionally, Max has recorded five pinfall victories this season, tying him with Semenenko for the most on the team.
MASTER OF THE MAT
Semenenko has started the 2025-26 season with an impressive 8-0 record. Five of his wins have come by pin, with the fastest occurring against Bloomsburg's Gavin Hannah in just 38 seconds on Nov. 23, and with 62.5 percent of his matches ending in a fall, he is chasing the single season program record currently held by Tivon Abel (1994-95) and Ophir Bernstein (2013-14), who each have 14. Overall, Semenenko has achieved 22 career pinfalls.Â
