Brown had five sailors selected to compete in the event, the second-most to Tulane's six selections. Seniors Katharine Doble and Kaitlyn Hamilton along with junior Sidney Moyer and first-year Leila Pfrang were at-large selections to the Women's Singlehanded Field. Senior Guthrie Braun was an at-large selection to the Open Singlehanded Field.
Braun finished second in last year's event in St. Petersburg, Fla., and claimed third at this year's NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship to earn an at-large selection for the fourth-straight year. Braun was also named an Open All-American Skipper in 2024.
Doble will also compete for the fourth consecutive time in the Women's Singlehanded Nationals, finishing second in 2023 in New Orleans, fifth in 2022 at Old Dominion, and sixth in 2024 in St. Petersburg, Fla. She is a two-time NEISA Women's Singlehanded Champion (2023, 2024), and finished fifth this year in the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship to earn an at-large selection. Doble was named a Women's All-American Skipper in 2024.
Hamilton will compete for the third time in the Women's Singlehanded Nationals, finishing eighth in both 2022 and 2023. She finished seventh this year in the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship to earn an at-large selection.
Moyer has qualified for the third time, finishing tenth the last two years. She finished third this year at the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship to earn an at-large selection.
Pfrang will make her debut at the Women's Singlehanded National Championship, which will be sailed on her home waters in Norfolk, Va. She finished eighth this year at the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship to earn an at-large selection.
The National Championship Selection Committees are charged with selecting the most competitive field of At-Large Candidates for the National Championships. To be eligible, candidates must have competed in a corresponding conference championship in any ICSA conference. Selectors must honor the finishing order at any respective conference championship; to select the fourth-place sailor in a conference, they must also select the second and third place candidates.Â
