"Really happy with how our team attacked the game today," Elizabeth F. Turner '98 Coaching Chair for Women's Basketball Monique LeBlanc said. "Coming into this game, and over the past couple of days at practice, something our team was focusing on and talking a lot about was how to put together a full 40 minutes."
Senior guard Grace Arnolie led the Bears in scoring, with a season-high 22 points on the afternoon. She also shot 60% from beyond the arc.
Senior forward Alyssa Moreland netted the second-most points on the team, with 17. Moreland shot 80% from the field, posted seven boards, and four steals.
Senior forward Ada Anamekwe played more meaningful minutes this afternoon, posting four points, a block, and a steal in her four minutes of playing time.
The Bears struck first with a layup from Moreland. Moreland kicked off a short 6-0 run for the Bears, before Maine netted their only basket of the quarter at 6:09. Brown then went on a 15-0 run to close out the opening 10 minutes of play. Six Bears combined for Brown's 21 points in the first quarter, while they held Maine to just two points in the quarter.
The second quarter proved to be the highest-scoring for the Black Bears, but was still not enough to close in on Brown's lead. Maine outscored Brown by just one point (14-13) in the second quarter. Arnolie made two free-throws for the Bears to extend their advantage to 18 points over Maine. Brown led 34-16 heading into halftime.
The Bears continued to assert its dominance over the final two quarters outscoring the Black Bears 36-23. Ross and Harzich made their first collegiate appearances in the fourth quarter, clocking six and four minutes of playing time respectively. In her six minutes of playing time, Ross collected six points, grabbed four rebounds, and shot 67% from the field. Brown went on to win its third-straight of the season following wins over Boston University (Nov. 19) and UMBC (Nov. 16).
This is the first time that the Bears have kept their opponent under 40 points since their win over Cornell (49-39) at the end of last season.
