Women’s Basketball Travels to UMBC on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's basketball team will head to Maryland this weekend to take on the University of Maryland Baltimore County Retrievers on Sunday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. inside of Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (0-2)
- The Bears' last time on the floor was on Wednesday, when they were defeated by Holy Cross 65-64 in a tight matchup.
- New additions Charlotte Adams-Lopez and Monét Witherspoon led the Bears in scoring at Holy Cross. The pair combined for a total of 28 points on the night (14 ea.).
- Witherspoon also shot 75% from the field against the Crusaders.
- Alyssa Moreland opened up the 2025-26 campaign by posting double-doubles (22 pts., 11 rebs.) in Brown's contest at Belmont on Nov. 7.
- Moreland kept her rebound streak going at Holy Cross (Nov. 12), posting 11 boards for the second-straight game. She currently ranks 41st in the nation in rebounds per game.
- The Bears opened up the 2025-26 campaign on Friday, Nov. 7 in Nashville, Tenn., where they took on the Belmont Bruins. Brown dropped the contest 61-83.
- The Bears were selected to finish fifth in the Ivy League Preseason Poll, which was announced by the conference on Oct. 23. Brown received 84 votes in the poll, in comparison to last year's 71.
- The Retrievers are coming off of a historic 61-56 victory over Virginia on Thursday night. The win marked UMBC's first ever Power 4 win.
- Gabby Scott and Heidi Williams led the Retrievers in scoring against the Cavaliers with 14 points apiece.
- Jade Tillman and Williams currently lead the Retrievers in scoring with an average of 15 and 14 points per game, respectively.
- UMBC opened their 2025-26 campaign with a 90-49 win over Stevenson. They fell to then-ranked No. 10 Maryland 54-87 before their win over Virginia.
- The Retrievers return five players, and added eight newcomers in the offseason. The newcomers are split evenly between first-years and transfers.
- UMBC was selected to finish eighth in the America East Preseason Poll, only above UMass Lowell. The Retrievers received 23 votes in the poll.
- Brown and UMBC have met three times prior to Sunday's matchup.
- The Bears hold a 2-1 record over the Retrievers.
- Brown defeated UMBC in 2013 (92-53) and 2017 (81-75).
- UMBC posted a 75-55 win over Brown in 2010.
