No. 19 Field Hockey Defeated by No. 5 Princeton, 2-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 19 Brown field hockey team (8-5, 3-3) fell 2-1 to No. 5 Princeton (11-3, 5-1) on Friday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field.
The Tigers outshot the Bears 5-0 in the first quarter, Brown goalkeeper Ellie Parker made two saves in the opening 15 minutes to keep the game knotted at zero.
Parker continued her strong play in the second half as she kept the Tigers off the scoreboard with four saves. Brown's lone first half shot came from Mia Karine Myklebust with 4:06 remaining in the half, her shot was turned aside by Olivia Caponiti.
The Tigers outshot the Bears 14-1 in the first half, Parker's six first half saves kept Princeton off the scoreboard as the game entered the second half scoreless.
Princeton netted the first goal of the game 4:01 into the third quarter after Parker turned aside a shot from Anne Faulstitch, the ball then found the stick of Izzy Morgan as she found the back of the net.
Parker made one more save in the third quarter as Princeton took a 1-0 lead into the final 15 minutes. The Tigers doubled their lead 7:39 into the fourth quarter on a goal by Molly Nye.
Brown was able to cut the Princeton lead in half on a goal from Sophia Clark, Clark's fourth goal of the season came on a penalty corner opportunity. After Lucy Adams played in the insertion, the ball found Juliette Meijaard, who laid the ball off to Lizzie Loftus who found Clark in front of the net. Clark's goal came with 5:40 remaining in the fourth.
Following Clark's goal, Brown took to the offensive, as Kiersten Smith had a chance to tie the game 39 seconds later. Her shot was turned aside by Caponiti.
Brown's last chance of the contest came on a penalty corner with 3:00 remaining, the Bears were unable to generate a shot as the Tigers held on for the 2-1 win.
Parker made a career-high 10 saves in the loss.
Brown will conclude non-conference play on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Providence at 12 p.m.
