No. 19 Field Hockey Concludes Non-Conference Play with 5-1 Win at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 19 Brown field hockey team (9-5, 3-3) finished non-conference play with a 5-1 win at Providence (8-8, 1-5) on Sunday afternoon.
After starting 0-2 in non-conference play, Brown won five-straight non-conference games. This is the second-straight season the Bears have won five non-conference games.
In a scoreless first quarter, Brown outshot Providence 2-1, both Brown shots were on target as Providence goalkeeper Zoe Onken made two stops in the frame. Brown goalkeeper Ellie Parker stopped the lone shot that was on target by the Friars.
Brown jumped ahead for good after scoring two goals in 45 seconds early in the second quarter. The first goal of the game was by Estelle Ballet, as she redirected a shot by Kate Siedem that found the back of the net. Lizzie Loftus found the back of the net for the Bears' second goal off of a penalty corner. The Bears took a 2-0 advantage into halftime, they outshot the Friars 7-1 in the first half.
Mia Karine Myklebust gave Brown a 3-0 lead 2:02 into the second half as she redirected a Lexi Pellegrino shot into the back of the net, it was Myklebust's seventh goal of the season. The Bears held the Friars to just one shot in the third quarter as Parker turned aside the attempt by Providence.
Brown added two more goals in the fourth quarter as Grace Almedeia and Kiersten Smith found the back of the net. Almeida's goal was assisted by Sophia Clark as Smith's goal was assisted by Lucy Adams. Adams finished the game with two assists, she has 26 for her career as Andover, Mass. native is three assists away from moving into second in program history.
Parker made two saves in her seventh win of the season, the freshman has allowed one goal or fewer in seven out of 11 appearances this season.
Brown will conclude the regular season at Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
