PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey (2-0-0) earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Merrimack (2-4-1) on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 19). Margot Norehad collected her first goal of the season.
Anya Zupkofska made 10 saves on the day for her first-career shutout as the Bears controlled the puck for the majority of the game. Brown outshot Merrimack 43-10, including 15-1 in the first period and 22-3 in the final period.
After two scoreless periods, Brown took advantage of a penalty by Merrimack. A deflection on a shot by Jade Iginla came back to the blue line where Victoria Damiani threw the puck on net. Norehad got a stick on the puck to send it past Andreanna Doucette for the game winner.
Brown killed off a penalty late in the game even as Merrimack pulled its goalie and had a 6-on-4 advantage.
