Field Hockey Earns 8-2 Win Over Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown field hockey team (8-4, 3-2) picked up an 8-2 win over Bryant (3-11, 0-3) on Sunday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field.

Bryant opened the scoring 3:02 into the first quarter on a goal from Megan Smith. The Bulldogs held the lead for 1:52 before Mia Karine Myklebust knotted the game at one off of a goal from a deflection on a shot from Lizzie Loftus.

Myklebust's second goal of the game gave Brown a 2-1 lead, a lead they'd take into the second quarter. The Bears outshot the Bulldogs 11-2 in the opening 15 minutes, Brown also earned seven penalty corner chances while holding Bryant to one.

Frances Moriniere gave Brown a 3-1 advantage with 2:36 remaining in the first half, her goal was assisted by Myklebust and Loftus. Brown outshot Bryant 18-3 in the first half while generating 11 penalty corner chances.

Kate Siedem gave Brown a 4-1 lead 3:46 into the third quarter, Siedem's goal was assisted by Myklebust and Adams. After Bryant cut into the Brown lead to make the score 4-2, Brown added two more third quarter goals.

The final two third quarter goals came from Myklebust and Lexi Pellegrino, Pellegrino's goal was the 34th of her career which put her third in program history. The Bears led 6-1 heading into the fourth quarter as Adams and Pellegrino. Pellegrino's second goal gave her 35 for her career.

Myklebust led the way offensively for Brown with three goals and four assists, Adams notched three assists in the win. This is the third time Brown has scored eight goals in a game, Brown scored eight goals this season against Stonehill (Sept. 21) and against Siena in 1996.

Brown recorded 35 shots (21 on target), 35 shots was a season-high for the Bears. Brown's 16 corners was also a season-high.

Brown will welcome No. 6 Princeton on Friday, Oct. 24 at 2:30 p.m. before traveling to Providence on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 12 p.m.
