
Ahuja Sets Top 15 Mark, Women Win ECAC Championship

BRONX, N.Y. - It was a championship performance for the Brown women's cross country team on Friday as the team captured the ECAC Championship title at Van Cortlandt Park.
Senior Nimrit Ahuja, for the third time this season, led the Bears by finishing fifth overall out of 235 runners, and ran the 14th fastest 6K time in program history. Sophomore Colin Fisher led the men's side finishing 20th overall out of 225 runners, as the men's team finished 12th overall.
In total, six Bears earned All-East honors by finishing in the top 25 of their respective races, with Ahuja, senior Julia Schriefer, freshman Charlotte Murphy, junior Olivia Fraga and sophomore Ariana Thiel-Hadjilambrinos all earning the honor on the women's side, and Fisher earning All-East for the men.
Brown's first place performance just edged out second place Bucknell (83 points). UMass Amherst (143), Iona (173), and Delaware (183) finished out the top five in the women's race that featured 25 teams.
Ahuja's fifth place finish in 20:53.3 was the 14th fastest 6K time in school history. Schriefer finished second for the Bears and 13th overall with a time of 21:31.4. Murphy (20th/21:48.8), Fraga (21st/21:50.7), and Thiel-Hadjilambrinos (22nd/21:58.1) completed the scoring five, with seniors Emily Mrakovcic (27th/22:01.4) and Olivia Bergin (58th/22:36.5) completing the top seven.
Northeastern took first place in the men's 8K race to earn the IC4A title, finishing with 58 points. Saint Joseph's University followed in second with 83 points. UMBC (136), American (137), and Colgate (149) finished out the top five in the men's race that featured 22 teams.
Fisher finished 20th overall with a time of 24:55.6 to earn All-East. Senior John Farrell finished second for the Bears and 54th overall with a time of 25:33.4. Freshman Benjy Street (77th/25:53.2), sophomore Kit Jackson (78th/25:55.3), and freshman Duncan Frisbie-Smith (87th/26:05.1) all secured points for Brown. Junior Matthew Doherty (98th/26:22.1) and freshman George Christmas (100th/26:24.6) rounded out Brown's top seven.
Brown will return to action next Friday, October 24th, as it hosts the annual Rothenberg Run at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.
