Saito Takes First Place at Southern Scuffle

CHATTANOOGA - The Brown men's wrestling team entered the new year with a bang at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga over the weekend.
Blake Saito (157) was the headliner of the event, winning his bracket with victories over Daniel Graham (Belmont), Nick Sanko (Virginia), Trae McDaniel (Army), Tyler Badgett (Citadel), and Max Petersen (North Dakota State).
"We are all happy for Blake and excited about the season he is putting together. Winning a college tournament is a hard thing to do, and he has won three so far this year, now including one of the more prestigious ones. That being said, he understands that it is the regular season and you can't stand on a conference or national podium in January," said Head Coach Jordan Leen of Saito's performance.
Another strong performance at the event was from Andrew Reall (184), who advanced to the quarterfinals of his bracket with wins against Devan Hendricks (Bellarmine) and Justin Phillips (Virginia).

The Bears head to North Carolina to compete in the Davidson Duals on January 17. They are scheduled to compete against Lock Haven, Little Rock, and Davidson at the event.
