PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's water polo begins its first season under head coach JJ Addison hosting the Bruno Classic on Jan. 31-Feb. 2. The Bears will play four games across Saturday (Feb. 1) and Sunday (Feb. 2).
On Saturday, Brown will take on Iona at 12:40 p.m. before facing off against No. 12 Indiana at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Bears will play No. 24 Pacific at 12:15 p.m. and Villanova at 3:15 p.m. All four games, as well as every game of the Bruno Classic will be streamed on ESPN+.

After spending the last eight season on staff at Brown in both the men's and women's programs, Addison was given the chance to lead the women's team in May.
"As a first-year head coach, I am excited to work with this exceptional group of women to find their strengths and help us all draw them out of each other," said Addison. "It is a big team, with a lot of personality and intelligence so every day is truly an opportunity for all of us to challenge each other to improve."
Brown begins the season ranked No. 22 in the latest Women's Varsity Top 25 Poll and has a tough schedule ahead with multiple trips out to the west coast before hosting the CWPA Championships in late April.
"I think our schedule is very challenging throughout, with great benchmarks every step of the way where top quality opponents will expose what we need to improve leading up to our opportunity to host our conference championships in April."

The Bears boast experience from their upperclassmen and Addison sees their three seniors as well as multiple juniors helping contribute to the success of the team this season.
We expect a big year from all three seniors - LHA Katherine Knowles, center Alessandra D'Arcy and our senior captain and true utility player, Claire Poissoinnier," said Addison. "Junior center Ella Palmer, goalkeeper Roxanne Hazuka and co-captain and center defender Madeleine Poissoinnier are other upperclassmen who have already shown that they will have a great spring."
The Bears also boast an incoming class poised to contribute, as well as a strong coaching staff to support Addison and the team.
Our incoming class is very exciting, with potential contributions coming at every position in the pool," said Addison. "The team has also been strengthened by the additions of Petar Momcilovic, Beth Conroy and the return of Brittany Connell to the staff. We fully expect every class, and staff member, to contribute to our success this year."
