Men’s Basketball Captures 83-82 Win at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - Trailing 81-77 with 2:45 remaining in regulation, the Brown men's basketball team (9-7, 1-2) outscored Cornell (10-6, 2-1) 6-1 in the final minutes to earn the victory at Newman Arena on Monday afternoon.
"For us to be able to win on the road against a good team when Kino fails to hit shots, I think it speaks to our other guys really finding a way to step up and make plays. "Head Men's Basketball Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04 said.
Aaron Cooley led the way offensively for Brown with a career-high 28 points on 10-12 shooting from the floor and a perfect 3-3 shooting from three-point range. Cooley's 28 points was the most for a Bear this season, the senior also grabbed seven rebounds.
Landon Lewis also chipped in 17 points on 8-10 shooting from the floor, Lewis also had five rebounds, three of which were offensive.
Cornell shot 76.9 percent from the floor in the first half, the Bears matched the Big Red as they shot 54.8 percent, Cornell took a 49-43 lead into the second half.
In the second half, Cooley and Lewis combined for 22 of Brown's 40 points, the two shot 9-10 from the floor in the final 20 minutes. Alexander Lesburt Jr. scored nine second half points, the junior shot a perfect 3-3 from three-point range in the final 20 minutes.
As a team, Brown had eight offensive rebounds, which led to 10 second chance points.
Brown will welcome Dartmouth to the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday, Jan. 25, tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets here.
