PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Standout sophomore Lawton Zacher was named to the Hockey Commissioner's Association Mike Richter Award Watch List on Wednesday.
The Mike Richter Award, given annually since 2014, is awarded to the nation's top goaltender.
The Buffalo, New York native owns a .935 save percentage and 2.09 goals against average in 12 starts this season. He posted consecutive shutouts against Clarkson and St. Lawrence and earned ECAC Goaltender of the Month honors in November.
Zacher also picked up ECAC Goalie of the Week recognition twice this season, once following the shutouts in the North Country and again in early December.
Zacher's save percentage leads the ECAC and ranks seventh in the NCAA. His goals against average ranks fourth in the conference and 20th in the country.
Last season, Zacher earned a spot on the Tim Taylor Rookie of the Year Award Watch List, recognizing the nation's top freshman.
Zacher is one of six ECAC goaltenders on the 35-player list. He is joined by Clarkson's Ethan Langenegger, Quinnipiac's Matej Marinov and Dylan Silverstein, Princeton's Arthur Smith, and Harvard's Ben Charette.
The six ECAC goaltenders are tied for the second-most from any conference with Hockey East and the Big Ten. The NCHC leads the way with seven goaltenders.
The Bears host the St. Lawrence Saints and #20 Clarkson Golden Knights in a conference set at Meehan Auditorium this weekend. Friday's game against the Saints is set for 7 p.m. with Saturday's clash with Clarkson set for 4 p.m.
