COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Bears threatened in the second half, erasing the Maryland lead with 13 minutes remaining on Lorenzo Amaral's first collegiate goal. However, the Terapins (2-1-2) escaped with a 2-1 victory over Brown (1-1-0) Friday evening at Ludwig Field after a late goal.
Maryland went into the half ahead 1-0 after a penalty kick (9:04). Henrik Weiper made three excellent saves in goal to limit the Terapins to a lone score. The momentum shifted in favor of the Bears in the latter part of the opening stanza as Brown looked determined to knot the score.
The aggressive Bears continued to push the offense and found the net at the 77:36 mark on Amaral's upper 90. The equalizer gave Amaral his first goal as a Bear after the sophomore collected two assists in his debut season (2023).
Maryland answered with eight minutes of action remaining.
Weiper moved to 1-1-0 in the year, with Terps' goalie Laurin Mack improving to 2-1-2 overall.
Amaral posted two shots on goal, with Jamin Gogo Peters, Levi Pillar, and Charlie Adams each collecting one.
