Men's Soccer Falls to Dartmouth in Ivy League Opener

HANOVER, N.H.- The Brown men's soccer team began their Ivy League play against Dartmouth on Saturday. The Bears fell to the Big Green with a final score of 2-1.

The Big Green were able to get on the scoreboard first in this matchup. At 28:53, Dartmouth's Oskar Magnusson shot the ball off of a header that landed in the back of the net.

Shortly after, the Bears would respond to the call. Jack Cloherty gave the ball to Mads Stistrup Petersen who was left open by Dartmouth's defense. Petersen fired the ball past Costi Christodoulou to give the Bears the equalizer.

Brown closed out the first half outplaying the Big Green with three shots landing on target out of seven. Dartmouth finished the half with six shots with only one landing on target. The Big Green were also assessed three yellowcards in the half.

At 60:25 Dartmouth's Vasilis Moiras scored the team's second goal of the afternoon, ultimately earning them the win.

In the 82nd minute, Dartmouth's Orrett Maine was issued a redcard which resulted in ejection. This allowed the Bears to have a man advantage for the remaining time.

Brown continued to play strong in the final remaining minutes. Mike Balleani tried to capitalize on an opportunity, but the shot was just wide.

The Bears finished out the second half with five shots.

Brown will continue their Ivy League action when they return to Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday to host Princeton at 6 p.m. for faculty and staff appreciation.
