Field Hockey Falls to #10 Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (2-5, 1-1 Ivy) welcomed #10 Harvard (6-1, 2-0 Ivy) to Providence Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 to the Crimson.
Saturday's game marked their second conference game of the season, they are 1-1 in the Ivy League.
Brown created opportunities for themselves all over the field, but the 10th-ranked Crimson's pressure continued to keep the Bears out of the shooting circle.
Harvard's Fiene Oerlemans scored first for the Crimson in the first quarter, assisted by Bronte-May Brough. Less than eight minutes into the second, Harvard's Kate Oliver scored assisted by Emily Bronckers.
Kiersten Smith got behind the Crimson's defense late in the third, earning an opportunity and getting the shot off into Harvard's Tessa Shabo's chest and it was saved by Shabo.
Minutes later, Imogen Govan intercepted a pass and got a quick break, sending her on a 2v1 towards Shabo, but Crimson's defensive pressure pushed Govan out of the shooting circle.
The third quarter went scoreless, Harvard kept a 2-0 lead into the third.
Harvard scored two in the fourth quarter, credited to Lara Beekhuis and Sage Piekarski. Brough and Martha Le Huray both earned assists.
The penalty corner advantage was held by Harvard, earning 12 for the afternoon, half of which were in the final quarter of the game.
Brown's Kylee Del Monte made five big saves for the Bears in the fourth, nine total saves for the game.
