PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (3-5, 2-1 Ivy League) matched a program record with eight goals en route to a dominating 8-1 win over the Dartmouth Big Green (2-6, 0-3 Ivy League) Friday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field.

"I think we all feel that we have something really special this season, so to get this statement result knowing we've been working so hard on and off the field is encouraging and is good to see it paying off as we get deeper in the season," said sophomore Mia Karine Myklebust.

"The connection on this team continues to astound me and I think it's incredible," senior Katie McCallum commented. "Everyone's work today on the field shows the work we did during practice this week. We're really happy to get it up on the scoreboard and come out here together and do what we love. It was a great win by everyone."

Lucy Adams nearly made it 1-0 Bears early in the opening quarter, but Dartmouth goalkeeper Isabel Andrews (8 saves) dove to her right to make the save.

Katie McCallum put the Bears ahead 1-0 late in the first quarter, firing a shot off a rebound from Jule Rothenberger for her fourth goal of the season.

Early in the second quarter, Myklebust doubled Brown's lead with her third goal of the season, finishing a rebound off Zoe Lawrence's initial shot.

Adams found the back of the net before the second quarter ended with a great individual effort, driving into the circle and blasting a shot over Andrews for a 3-0 lead.

Lawrence tallied her second goal of the season minutes into the third quarter off a penalty corner, blasting a shot past goalkeeper Ava Carlson (6 saves) with assists going to Mikayla Walsh and Adams.

Just over three minutes later, Kiersten Smith tallied her first collegiate goal off a feed from McCallum to push the score to 5-0.

Late in the third quarter, Brown goalkeeper Kylee Del Monte (3 saves) turned aside a pair of Big Green shots, Dartmouth's first shots on goal in the game.

With one minute remaining in the third, Smith tallied her second goal of the afternoon with Catie Summers picking up the assist.

Myklebust added her second of the game in the first minute of the fourth quarter with McCallum picking up her second assist. Myklebust re-directed a shot from McCallum from the top of the circle.

Lexi Pellegrino got on the scoresheet less than two minutes later with Brown's eighth goal of the game, collecting a pass from Smith and beating Carlson with a shot off the post and in.

Dartmouth spoiled the shutout with three minutes remaining as Riley Dumigan found the back of the net. A review upheld the goal.

"I think we're all really focused on pushing, it's a new game on Sunday and a new Ivy weekend next weekend," Myklebust added. "Keeping this energy with us is encouragement and fuel knowing we have big goals this season"

"We're going to keep building, keep pushing, and keep the foot on the gas," said McCallum.

GAME NOTES

Brown matched a program record with the eight goals in today's game. Previously, Brown took an 8-0 win over Siena in 1996.
The seven-goal win matches the largest score differential in an Ivy League game, matching 7-0 wins over Cornell and Columbia in the 1999 season.
Eight different Bears recorded a point in the win.
The Bears finished the game with a 34-12 edge in shots and a 22-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Brown also had a 10-7 penalty corner advantage.

The Bears head to Smithfield on Sunday to take on the Bryant Bulldogs (3-7, 0-2 AE) in non-conference action. Sunday's game is scheduled to begin at noon and will stream on AmericaEast.tv.
