Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Brown women's tennis team opened their fall season on Friday against the Boston University Terriers at the Yale Invitational.

Addison Ahlstrom and newcomer Ali Maguy had a strong match at the second line in doubles, earning a 6-4 win over BU's Blanka DeMicheli and Madison Liu. Hannah Shen and freshman Bella Hu also notched a 7-6 (7:3) win over the Terriers' Emily Gyuro and Emily Zhao.

Phoebe Peus and Ali Maguy posted their first singles wins of the season. Phoebe Peus had a 10-4 edge over BU's Uma Bakaityte. Ali Maguy found her second win of the night at fifth singles over Terriers' Nina Gulbransen (6-0,6-4). Bella Hu also earned her second win of the night over BU's Rhea Rai (6-4,6-4). Junior Anne Moody made her debut after an injury that left her out for two seasons, achieving her first win over the Terriers' Sydney Sharma (6-3,3-6,10-8).

"Today's match was very competitive and a great start to our fall season. Our players held themselves with a lot of poise and kept competing hard no matter the score, and it really paid off in the end. We look forward to competing against Rutgers tomorrow at 1 p.m," Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said.

The Bears will compete in the second day of the Yale Invitational Tournament against Rutgers at 1 p.m.
