PRINCETON, N.J. - The Brown women's tennis team (10-12, 2-5 Ivy) finished out their final match of the regular season against Princeton (10-11, 3-4 Ivy) on Sunday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center. Brown fell to the Tigers with a final score of 4-1.
"Even though we were not able to get the team win against Princeton today, I was proud of the team for their fight and effort," Broadbent Family Women's Tennis Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "Lindsey and Addie, even though they couldn't complete their doubles match, played mistake-free and aggressive doubles."
The Tigers started the match with the upper hand after posting wins at second and third doubles, earning them the point. The pairing of seniors Lindsey Hofflander and Addison Ahlstrom remained ahead of their opponents at line one, but were unable to finish their match due to the doubles point being clinched.
"Addie won her last singles match for Brown with one of the best wins of her career, beating a blue chip opponent in her line two win. Addie finished her match playing with complete clarity and focus on performance goals. She inspired her teammates as she provided a valuable lesson about focusing on things she could control and staying committed to her performance goals," said Schmidhauser.
"Hannah battled fiercely in the third set but was unable to complete her match prior to Princeton clinching the overall win, leading 5-4 in the third set of her match."
Ahlstrom won her singles match at the second line against Bella Chhiv in two sets 7-5, 6-4, earning Brown their lone win of the match.
The Tigers earned three singles wins pushing them past Brown to win the match 4-1.
"Even though the last few matches have not gone the way we would have wanted result-wise, we are returning the majority of our starters next year who have made big strides this spring in their level of play. There are many positives to take away from this season as we continue to build a culture of excellence on and off the court for Brown women's tennis," Schmidhuaser concluded.
