
Men’s Tennis Season Preview

The Brown men’s tennis program opens the fall 2024 season this weekend with the first installment of the Brown Fall Invite this weekend at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
Head coach Alex Kasarov is returning for his fifth season at Brown, accompanied by second-year assistant coach Brady Draheim.

The Schedule
After the first installment of the Brown Fall Invite, Brown will travel to Tulsa, O.K. to participate in the ITA All-American Championships (Sept. 21-29).
The Bears will then take part in the Yale Invite (Sept. 27-29) before the second installment of the Brown Fall Invite (Oct. 5-6).
Brown will travel to Cambridge, M.A. for the ITA New England Regionals (Oct. 17-21) before the Ivy League Conference Tournament that will be hosted by Yale (Oct. 25-28).
When the calendar changes to November, the Bears will compete at the ITA Sectional Championships and the ITA Masters (Nov. 7-10). The fall schedule will conclude at the NCAA Championships (Nov. 20-24).

Returning Core
Brown returns 12 players from the 2023-24 season, including Noah Hernandez, Alex Finkelstein, and Zander Bravo, who all received regional recognition by ITA following the conclusion of the 2024 season. Noah Hernandez was ranked No. 18 in singles in the New England regional ranking. Hernandez closed out the 2024 season with nine wins. He was the first singles player to be regionally recognized since 2018-19.t
The ITA ranked the doubles pairing of Alex Finkelstein and Zander Bravo as the No. 9 in doubles in the region. The pairing finished last season with a record of 8-6, and went 6-4 in their last 10 matches of the season. The two were the first pairing to earn regional recognition since the 2016-17 season.
Brown also returns George Bader, Brian Chong, Sam Feldman, Alex Koong, James Lian,and Oliver Worth.
The 12 players return to a Bears squad that earned five wins last season, including three consecutive victories against Boston College (Jan. 27), Siena (Jan. 28), and Fairfield (Feb. 2).
Brown also picked up wins over Quinnipiac and Holy Cross last season (March 3).

Newcomers
The Bears welcomed two freshmen in Toby Luo and Lukas Phimvongsa ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
Luo was ranked No. 23 in the nation according to Tennis Recruiting and a five-star recruit out of Pacific Academy. Toby also made the Southern California Junior Sectional Finals in Boys 16s.
Phimvongsa was an All-Connecticut Scholar Athlete, AP Scholar with Distinction, All-State Hugh O. Brian National Candidate, member of the National Honors Society.A 2024 All-American, 4x All-State, 4x All-Conference, 3x Most Valuable Player, and a 2024 State Champion.
