PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown football rising senior defensive back Isaiah Reed has been named to the Buck Buchanan Award Preseason Watch List, which was released on Wednesday. The Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award will be presented after the season to the national defensive player of the year in Division I FCS Football.
Reed is the only Ivy League player to be on the initial 30-player watch list. Players from all 13 FCS conferences are represented on the watch list, including 10 past finalists.
Reed has been on the receiving end of multiple preseason honors this season, including Second Team Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America honors, and Second Team Preseason All-America accolades from Sports Illustrated's FCS Football Central. He was also one of 63 FCS players named to the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl 1000, highlighting the top 1000 NFL Prospects.
Reed is coming off another strong season in 2023, where the junior captain earned First Team All-Ivy and First Team Phil Steele All-Ivy honors, in addition to being named to the New England Football Writers All-New England team. He led the Ivy League with five interceptions and ranked tied for second in all of FCS Football with 0.5 interceptions per game. He also led the league and ranked eighth nationally with 1.3 passes defended per game.
Reed finished the season with 50.0 total tackles (32.0 solo), including season-highs of 9.0 tackles and three pass breakups in the season-opening win at Bryant. He had two interceptions at Penn, including one in the end zone in the closing moments to help seal the win. He also added a 35-yard pick-six against Yale.
Brown will open the 2024 season on Saturday, September 21 at Georgetown before hosting Harvard in the home opener on September 28. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here. For more information on season ticket holder benefits, click here.
