Football’s 2024 Win Over Harvard Voted Brown Stadium’s Top All-Time Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I. As part of the 100th anniversary celebration of Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium, a public vote has selected the Bears' victory over Harvard on September 28, 2024 as the top game from the stadium's first century.
Of the 510 games Brown Stadium has hosted through its first 100 years, the September 2024 thriller over Harvard was an instant classic, featuring a dramatic second half comeback, which included a botched field goal attempt by the Crimson that set up a game-winning touchdown with 21 seconds remaining.
ABOUT THE GAME
In a wild turn of events in the final minute, Brown rallied for a dramatic 31-28 victory over Harvard in front of a crowd of over 10,000. Down 21-3 in the second quarter and trailing by 11 entering the fourth quarter, Brown scored the game's final 14 points to take its first lead with 21 seconds remaining. With Harvard holding a 28-23 lead with under a minute left, the Crimson tried to extend their lead with a field goal attempt from the Brown nine, but the snap sailed over the holder's head and was returned by the Bears down to the Harvard 27-yard line. On the next play, Jake Willcox connected with Mark Mahoney for the game-winning touchdown pass, then teamed up again for a two-point conversion, sparking a wild celebration and giving Brown its first win over the Crimson in 14 years.

VOTING PROCESS/RESULTS
Fan were asked to pick their top three choices from a list of 12 games. A total of 155 ballots were submitted in the voting that ran from July 30-August 30. First place votes received three points, second place votes earned two points, and third place votes received one point.
