Football Delivers Strong 35-28 Win Over Dartmouth to Close Out the Season

A pair of late interceptions, including a game-winning pick-six from sophomore Alejandro Bello and a game-sealing pick in the end zone from junior Cap Davis powered Brown, along with a pair of first half touchdowns from sophomore Matt Childs.
Brown finishes the season 5-5 (2-5 Ivy) and in a tie for sixth place with Princeton in the Ivy League standings.
Brown also honored its 24-member senior class with a pregame ceremony.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brown's defense forced four turnovers in the game (three in the fourth quarter), including three interceptions from John Perdue, Bello and Davis.
- Bello returned the game-winning interception 74 yards to paydirt with just under five minutes remaining.
- Davis had the final interception in the end zone with less than two minutes left.
- Perdue added 8.0 tackles and his team-leading third interception of the year.
- Junior Miles Brophy had a career-high 13.0 tackles.
- Junior quarterback James Murphy was 22-for-27 for 222 yards passing and three touchdowns.
- Childs posted 108 yards of total offense and two touchdowns, including 61 receiving yards to lead the team.
- Senior Solomon Miller had 36 yards receiving and a touchdown.
- Senior Jackson Delaney had a pair of catches for 30 yards and his first career touchdown.
- Trevor Foley had five catches for 37 yards.
- Ten different Bears recorded a reception.
- Brown's defense limited Dartmouth's rushing attack to just 112 yards, their second-lowest total of the season. The Big Green entered the game third in the league with 169.0 yards per game on the ground.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dartmouth turned an interception on Brown's opening possession into a touchdown with a 13-yard pass at the 12:03 mark for the early lead.
- The Bears drew even with a touchdown at 3:25 of the second quarter when Murphy found a wide-open Childs in the right side of the end zone for a 19-yard score.

- Brown capitalized on a turnover to take the lead with another touchdown by Childs, this one coming on the ground with a six-yard run at 8:54.
- Dartmouth fought back to tie the score with 5:38 left until halftime, converting a 4th-and-8 for a 35-yard touchdown.
- The Bears quickly answered on a 21-yard pass to Delaney, who hauled in the pass while being interfered with to put Bruno back on top, 21-14 with 3:02 left in the half.

- Trailing by seven early in the fourth, Murphy connected with Miller for a six-yard touchdown pass to even the game 28-28.

- With Dartmouth driving in Brown territory, Bello picked off a pass down the middle of the field and took it down the sideline 74 yards for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown with 4:50 remaining.

- Dartmouth drove to the Brown 31 on its ensuing drive, but on the first play after the two-minute timeout, Davis won the jump ball and picked off the pass in the end zone for the final defensive stop that helped seal the game.
GAME NOTES
- Bello's interception was the first pick-six for Brown since Isaiah Reed's 35-yard interception return vs. Yale on Nov. 4, 2023.
- Twenty-eight of Brown's last 60 games over the last six seasons have been decided by one possession. The Bears are now 14-14 in those games.
- Brown has come-from-behind to win in the fourth quarter in eight of its last 12 victories.
- The win is Brown's first victory over Dartmouth since 2016 and the first at Brown Stadium since 2009.
- Dartmouth entered the game receiving votes in this week's Stats Perform FCS and AFCA Coaches Top 25 Polls.

- James Murphy finishes the season with the second-best single-season completion percentage in program history at 67.4 percent.
- Murphy's 246 completions rank tied for ninth in single-season program history.
- Murphy's 2,798 passing yards rank eighth in program history for a single season.
- Elias Archie's 14 pass breakups this season are tied for third most in a single season in program history.
- Ike Odimegwu finished the season with 9.0 sacks, fourth-most in school history and two shy of the program record.
