
Brown’s Henry Hollingsworth and Gus Rodriguez Named to 2024 U.S. Olympic Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The United States Olympics and Paralympic Committee have announced their official roster for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team. Former Brown student-athletes Henry Hollingsworth and Gus Rodriguez are among the 592 athletes that will represent Team USA in Paris. Hollingsworth was named to the Men's Eight, while Rodriguez was named an alternate.
Henry Hollingsworth finished second in the Men's Eight with the United States at the 2024 World Rowing Cup III. He also won the Men's Eight at the 2024 World Rowing Final Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta. In 2022, he won the Championship Eight at the Head of the Charles with U.S. Rowing, finishing the course in record time. Hollingsworth rowed with the Brown University Varsity 8 in 2020-21 and 2021-2022. As a junior he earned Second Team All-America honors. In 2022, Hollingsworth rowed with Rodriguez in the Varsity 8 and helped Brown take bronze at the IRA National Championship, and silver at the Eastern Sprints.
Gus Rodriguez finished 11th in the Men's Pair at the 2024 World Rowing Cup II. He finished 10th in the Men's Four at the 2022 World Rowing Championships. Rodriguez stroked the Brown Varsity 8 throughout the 2022 season, leading the crew to a second-place finish at the Eastern Sprints. He also finished in third place at the IRA Championship. In 2021-22, Rodriguez was named the U.S. Rowing U23 Co-Athlete of the Year.
Henry Hollingsworth and Gus Rodriguez rowed during the same years for Brown, with Henry serving as a team captain. Both Hollingsworth and Rodriguez contributed to the team with their individual strengths and skills. Head Coach Paul Cooke expressed his excitement and pride in the pair for representing Brown and the United States in the Olympics.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will kick off on Friday, July 26 and run through Sunday, August 11. The city of Paris will welcome more than 10,000 Olympians from around the world to compete in 32 different sports. Tune into NBC and Peacock to watch the Opening Ceremony at noon on July 26.
