Brown’s 4x800 Relay Teams Shine at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Brown men's and women's 4x800 meter relay teams shined at the annual Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field on Saturday afternoon. The women finished runner-up in the event while the men finished fourth with both teams running times that rank in the top 10 all-time in program history.
The women's 4x800m relay team of senior Stephanie Kriss, first-years Scarlet Stimson and Tanisha Patil, and sophomore Emily Mrakovcic took home second place overall out of 15 teams with a time of 8:53.71, setting the 10th fastest relay time in program history, edging out the previous No. 10 mark by 0.06 seconds from 2011.
The men's 4x800m team of senior Jesse Edelstein, and first-years Jake Haley, Matthew Doherty and John Ryan combined on a time of 7:31.87, good for the eighth-fastest time in program history and fourth place overall out of 17 teams at the meet.
On Friday in the women's college high jump, Nene Mokonchu tied for sixth place by clearing 1.70m. Kendra Ezeama finished in ninth place of the college shot put at 14.07m.
On Thursday in the women's college hammer throw, Chidinma Agbasi threw 45.32m, and on the men's side, Ethan Wordell took home 11th place overall at 56.53m.
The Bears will host the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium as part of the team's final tune up ahead of next weekend's Ivy League Heps.
