4/20/2024 6:48:00 PM | Women's Tennis
The Bears loss their first doubles match with a score of 6-1. The doubles pairing of Ali Benedetto and Addie Ahlstrom helped the Bears bounce back, and won the second doubles match. Cornell won the third doubles match, earning them the point.
Brown started off singles strong, with Phoebe Peus winning her match against Cornell's Lauren Stein in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-1). The Bears picked up their second point of the afternoon at the sixth line when Anne Yang took down Cornell's Tanya Fan in two sets (6-2, 6-0). Cornell collected three of the singles points, giving them the win over the Bears.
"A disappointing loss today. I have to give credit to Cornell for coming out stronger and better prepared to fight than our team. They handled important moments better than we did and even though we were close to turning the match around, the late competitive surge wasn't quite enough to turn the match around," Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said.
