
Sailing Takes First Place at Owen and Oberg Fleet Races

The coed sailing team competed in the Thompson Team Race at Connecticut College. The Bears notched a podium finish at third place out of eight teams. Guthrie Braun, Liam O'Keefe, Leyton Borcherding, Connor Nelson, Emily Mueller, Savannah Young, Caroline Keeffe-Jones, and Vera Allen represented Brown at the regatta. They finished the event with a 15-6 record.
The women's sailing team finished in sixth place at the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship for the Legler Trophy at Harvard University. Brielle Wiloughby, Charlotte Costikyan, Laura Hamilton, Katherine McNamara, Francesca Edmands, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Brianna Ross, Menasha Leport, and Lily Shore competed in the event for the Bears. They finished the regatta with a 5-9 record.
Brown also competed in the Owen Trophy at Tufts University, and the Oberg Trophy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. These competitions are two of the biggest fleet racing events, with the Oberg Trophy being a three-division, 16 team race. The Bears took first place at both of the events.Â
The Bears will be back in action this weekend with four competitions on their schedule, including the NEISA Open Dinghy Championship at home.
