3/8/2024 9:59:00 PM | Women's Tennis
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -Â Brown women's tennis played on its home courts for the first time in over a month and came away with a 6-1 victory over Bryant on Friday afternoon.
Winning at doubles were sophomore Phoebe Peus and junior Lindsey Hofflander (6-1), and senior Ali Benedetto and junior Addison Ahlstrom (6-2).
Taking their singles matches were Benedetto at first singles (6-4, 7-5), senior Nora Lee at third singles (6-1, 6-0), Ahlstrom at fourth singles (6-1, 6-3), senior Olivia Mariotti at fifth singles (6-2, 6-3) and freshman Hannah Shen at sixth singles (6-3, 7-5).
"A very focused performance by our team from start to finish. We kept the pressure on in doubles until we clinched the doubles point and stayed focused in singles as well" said Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "Ali closed out both her sets with courage at line one singles. Olivia played with a lot energy and game style clarity and overwhelmed her opponent with depth and ability to finish at the net. Addie, Nora and Hannah competed very well in their matches and stayed patient yet aggressive during pressure points, which is something we have been working on in practice. Now we need to refocus and get ready for a tough Fordham team tomorrow."
