Men's Lacrosse Heads to College Park to Take on #7 Maryland

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-4, 0-0 Ivy League) head to College Park, Maryland to take on the seventh-ranked Maryland Terrapins (4-1, 0-0 Big Ten) at noon on Saturday at SECU Stadium. Tomorrow afternoon's game will air on B1G+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend looking for its first win of the season after taking losses to Quinnipiac, BU, Providence, and #11 Georgetown.
- Brown's offense averages 8.25 goals per game and is led by junior Aidan McLane's 10 goals and 11 points. Senior Jack Kelly leads the Bears with six assists.
- Brown's man-up offense has four goals in 13 attempts (.309) to rank 42nd nationally. Forrest Demetri has a pair of man-up goals to lead the team.
- Brown's .835 clear percentage ranks 55th nationally but opponents have just an .820 clear percentage against Brown.
- The Bruno defense allows 13.00 goals per game and are coming off a season-low 11 goals against at Georgetown.
- Connor Theriault holds a 13.21 goals against average and .500 save percentage in four starts.
- Brown's man-down defense ranks 28th nationally at .684 (13-for-19).
- Dash Sachs has taken the majority of the faceoffs and holds a .439 win-rate (29-66) and a team-leading 15 ground balls. Teagan Bultman is 20-for-34 (.588) this season.
- Maryland enters Saturday ranked seventh in the nation per both the USILA Coaches Poll and Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
- The Terps are 4-1 in 2024 with wins over Richmond, Loyola, Syracuse, and Princeton. Most recently, sixth-ranked Notre Dame took a 14-9 win over UMD.
- Maryland averages 11.60 goals per game to rank 37th nationally. Braden Erksa and Daniel Maltz lead the Terrapins with 10 goals apiece. Eric Malever leads the team with nine assists and 16 points.
- Maryland's man-up offense has six goals in 13 attempts (.462) to rank 16th nationally. Six different players have scored a man-up goal.
- UMD's .885 clear percentage ranks 22nd nationally. Opponents clear the ball at a .923 rate against Maryland.
- Defensively, Maryland allows 9.60 goals per game to rank 11th in the NCAA.
- Logan McNaney has started all five games in goal and holds a 9.45 goals against average and .547 save percentage. His GAA ranks 11th in the NCAA and his save percentage ranks 20th.
- Maryland's man-down defense has struggled and allowed five goals in eight attempts (.375) to rank 72nd nationally.
- Luke Wierman is stellar at the faceoff X and ranks seventh nationally with a .634 win-rate (78-for-123). His 9.00 ground balls per game rank eighth in the nation.
- Saturday marks the 18th meeting between Brown and Maryland in a series dating back to 1964.
- Maryland has won all 17 meetings and took the biggest meeting in 2016, a 15-14 overtime win in the National Semifinal.
- Prior to the 2016 meeting, Brown and Maryland had not played each other since 1995.
- Theriault has started all four games this season and holds a 13.21 goals against average and .500 save percentage.
- His 12.25 saves per game are tied for 25th-most in the nation.
- He recorded a season-high 18 saves against Providence (Feb. 24).
- Junior faceoff specialist Dash Sachs recorded his first career goal with his first career shot just five seconds into the game against Georgetown (Mar. 2).
- Sachs leads the team in faceoffs taken (66) and faceoffs won (29). He also leads the Bears with 15 ground balls.
- Most recently against Georgetown, he finished 10-for-18 with five ground balls.
