Women's Tennis Drops Close Match at #45 Yale
3/30/2024 7:28:00 PM | Women's Tennis
Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander won the first doubles match, 6-3. Nora Lee and Dani Ben-Abraham closed out the doubles matches with a 6-2 win over Yale's AnnWright Guerry and Jamie Kim. The Bears were able to secure the doubles point. "In doubles, we competed very well at lines 1 and 3 to start singles with a 1-0 lead," Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said.
The Bears were able to collect two singles points at first and third. Phoebe Peus earned a win over Yale's Orly Ogilvy in two sets (6-3, 6-4). Gabriella Soliman earned the Bears' next single point with her victory over Yale's Erin Ha in two sets (6-1, 7-5). Â Yale earned the four remaining singles points to get by the Bears.
"In singles, Phoebe and Gabby used the wind to their advantage, mixing up height and speed of their shots. They showed courage and ability to stay in points long enough to create finishing opportunities, especially during pressure moments. I'm hopeful the team will learn from this disappointing loss as we prepare for Dartmouth and Harvard." said Schmidhauser.
