Water Polo Starts Trip with Wins at Azusa Pacific and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

GLENDORA, Calif. – Brown women's water polo began its spring break trip in California with two close victories on Saturday. The Bears took down RV Azusa Pacific to begin the day before beating DIII No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to close out the day.
BROWN 8, AZUSA PACIFIC 6
The Bears were led by two goals apiece from Sierra Martin and Aubrie Anderson in a win over Azusa Pacific to start the day. Roxanne Hazuka finished the game with six saves for the Bears.
Brown took a 2-1 lead after the first quarter with goals by Anderson and Martin but the game was tied 4-4 heading into the final quarter.
The Bears opened up the fourth quarter with three-straight goals, coming from Ella Palmer, Martin and Hanna Tidrenczel. Cleo Washer scored for Brown's eight goal.
BROWN 12, CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS 11
In another close battle to close out the day, Brown earned a one-goal win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Sophie Golub led the way for the Bears with three goals and three assists, while Madeleine Poissonnier, Ella Palmer and Gabby Montalvo each had two goals.
Sarah Decker had a strong game in goal, collecting eight saves.
Brown led 3-2 after one quarter with goals coming from Montalvo, Poissonnier and Sabrina Shipley. Golub scored two goals and added an assist in the second quarter as Brown netted five goals and led 8-5 at halftime.
Three different times, C-M-S was able to cut Brown's lead to one but the Bvears got goals from Cleo Washer, Poissonnier and Golub to maintain the advantage the rest of the way.

Brown will take on Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday with the game starting at 2 p.m. ET.
