Men's Lacrosse Hosts UMass in Non-Conference Action Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-6, 0-1 Ivy League) return to Stevenson-Pincince Field for just the second home game of the season to take on longtime rival UMass (4-3, 0-0 A10) in a Friday afternoon battle.
Friday's game is set to begin at 3 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ and air on NESN+. Tomorrow's game is also Brown's Rhode Island Community Food Bank game. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to donate to the local charity.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend looking for its first win of the season after opening Ivy League conference play last weekend with a loss at Penn. Two of Bruno's losses have come in overtime.
- Brown's offense averages 8.67 goals per game and is led by junior Aidan McLane, who has 14 goals and 16 points. Senior Jack Kelly leads the Bears with seven assists.
- Brown's man-up offense has five goals in 18 attempts (.278) to rank 54th nationally. McLane and Forrest Demetri lead the squad with two man-up goals apiece.
- Brown's clear percentage ranks 40th nationally at .865.
- Defensively, Brown allows 12.83 goals per game to rank 52nd nationally. Connor Theriault has started all six games and holds a 13.16 goals against average and .459 save percentage.
- Brown's man-down defense leads the Ivy League and ranks 15th nationally at .720 (18-25).
SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
- UMass enters Friday with a 4-3 overall record and look to close the non-conference slate on a high note.
- The Minutemen opened the season with a loss against Army before taking wins over UMass Lowell, Marist, Merrimack, and UAlbany. Most recently, UMass fell to Vermont and Rutgers.
- All three of the Minutemen losses have been by a single goal.
- The UMass offense averages 12.86 goals per game to rank 22nd in the NCAA.
- Mason Bregman leads the team with 22 points and 10 assists. His 12 goals are tied for second-most on the team, one goal behind Caelin Lewis.
- The man-up offense has just two goals in 10 attempts to rank near the bottom of the NCAA.
- With a clear percentage of .881, UMass ranks 21st nationally.
- Defensively, UMass allows 10.14 goals per game to tank 18th nationally.
- Matt Knote has started all seven games and holds a 9.89 goals against average and .570 save percentage. His goals against ranks 13th and his save percentage ranks 15th in the NCAA. He also scored a goal against the Catamounts.
- The man-down defense ranks fifth nationally at .789 (15-19).
- Friday marks the 55th meeting between Brown and UMass dating back to 1963.
- Brown holds a 28-26 all-time record against the Minutemen and a 13-13 record at home.
