Men's Lacrosse Opens Ivy Play at #12/14 Penn

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-5, 0-0 Ivy League) kick off the conference slate with a Saturday matchup against the #12/14 Penn Quakers (4-2, 0-0 Ivy League) at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the Ivy season coming off a strong performance at seventh-ranked Maryland last weekend. The Bears ultimately fell 14-13 to the Terps in overtime.
- Aidan McLane leads the team in goals (12) and points (13) and recorded two goals in College Park. Jack Kelly ranks second on the team with 12 points and is coming off a three-point effort at Maryland.
- Brown's man-up offense has four goals in 13 attempts (.308) to rank fourth in the conference and 48th nationally.
- The .864 clear percentage for Brown ranks fifth in the conference and 38th in the NCAA.
- Connor Theriault has started all five games in goal for Brown and holds a .471 save percentage and 13.34 goals against average. He recorded a season-high 18 saves against Providence College (Feb. 24).
- Brown's man-down defense leads the Ivy League and ranks 13th nationally at .739 (17-23).
- Penn enters the weekend with a 4-2 overall record with wins over #1 Duke, #14 Delaware, UAlbany, and Villanova.
- The Quakers fell in the season-opener against Georgetown and later in the season at #19 North Carolina.
- Offensively, Penn ranks fifth in the conference and 43rd nationally with 10.83 goals per game.
- Tynan Walsh leads Penn with nine assists and 19 points while Ben Smith leads the team with 12 goals.
- Penn's man-up offense has six goals in 12 attempts to rank second in the conference and tied for sixth nationally.
- Penn's clear percentage ranks third in the Ivy and 35th in the NCAA at .867.
- Defensively, Penn allows 10.33 goals per game to rank second in the conference and 24th nationally.
- Emmet Carroll has started all six games in goal and holds a 10.39 goals against average and .589 save percentage. His goals against ranks 23rd nationally, his save percentage ranks sixth, and his 14.83 saves per game are the second-most in the nation behind Quinnipiac's Mason Oak (16.80).
- Penn's man-down defense clicks at .632 (12-for-19) to rank sixth in the Ivy League and 41st in the nation.
- Saturday marks the 62nd meeting between Brown and Penn in a series dating back to 1927.
- Brown holds a 36-25 all-time record against Penn along with an 18-12 road record.
- Both teams are 5-5 in the last 10 meetings and 10-10 in the last 20 meetings back to 2004.
- Both teams have scored 111 goals in the last 10 meetings and Penn holds a 203-197 edge in the last 20 meetings.
- Brown gave the seventh-ranked Terrapins all they could handle last weekend in College Park, ultimately falling 14-13 in overtime.
- Matteo Corsi returned to action and recorded his fourth career hat trick in the loss. Jack Kelly, Spencer Hughes, and Aidan McLane each scored twice.
- Junior faceoff specialist Dash Sachs had a career day last weekend at Maryland, winning 17-of-30 faceoffs with 13 ground balls, setting a career-high in faceoffs won, faceoffs taken, and ground balls.
- Earlier this season, he recorded his first career goal with his first career shot just five seconds into the game against Georgetown (Mar. 2).
- Sachs leads the team in faceoffs taken (96) and faceoffs won (46). He also leads the Bears with 28 ground balls.
- He posted a 10-for-18 effort at X with five ground balls against Georgetown.
