Track and Field Dominates Brown Invitational in Final Regular Season Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Both Brown men's and women's indoor track and field programs won the Brown Invitational on Saturday inside the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center (OMAC). The women finished first of 10 (148 points) and the men placed first of eight (149.5).
MEN
Solomon Miller (6.92) and Elias Archie (6.96) hit IC4A qualifying times and finished 1-2 in the 60 meter dash finals.
In the 500 meters, Aaron Caveney (1:05.67) and Jake Haley (1:06.54) finished first and second, respectively, and also hit IC4A qualifying marks. Brown replicated the finish and IC4A marker in the 3000 meters with Jason Markopoulos (8:28.98) and John Farrell (8:31.61).
Marcus Gillespie won the 60m hurdles with an 8.05 finish, his best performance in the 60 hurdles inside the OMAC (also an IC4A qualifier).
Joseph Oduro's 14.96m mark in the triple jump rounded out the IC4A qualifying performances for Brown.
WOMEN
The day began with Emma Gallant winning the 60 meter dash prelims and finals. Her final mark of 7.72 was good for an IC4A qualifying mark. It was one-hundredth off her personal best, set earlier this indoor season at the Brown-hosted Alden Invitational (Dec. 2).
Olivia Fraga won the 1000 meters, Julia Soderbery and Olivia Bergin topped the 3000 meter finishers, and Sara Perez's 5000 meter performance gave Brown 10 points.
Elie Riley's 60m hurdles prelims mark (8.92) and finals (8.97) hit the IC4A qualifying mark.
Simone Dunbar (long jump) and Daryn Davis (triple jump) won their events, and two student-athletes hit IC4A qualifying marks in the weight throw as Michelyn Appiah (16.67m) and Nicolette Ducharme (16.13m) finished second and third, respectively.
