Princeton Rallies in Second Half to Defeat Men’s Basketball 72-63

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown (6-17, 2-6 Ivy) led by as much as 10 points in the second half, but Princeton (18-3, 6-2 Ivy) was able to rally to defeat the Bears, 72-63, on Friday evening in Jadwin Gymnasium.
The Tigers went on a 14-0 run in the second to regain the lead for the first time since the halfway mark of the first and rode free-throw shooting to a win. Princeton went 26-of-31 from the charity stripe while Brown attempted five free throws.
Nana Owusu-Anane led the Bears with 17 points, nine coming from long distance, Kino Lilly Jr. posted 14 points and tied his career-high with six assists, and Alexander Lesburt Jr. collected 11 points on three triples. Aaron Cooley came off the bench with nine points and eight rebounds.
FIRST HALF
Mike Martin made a change to the starting lineup and the Bears responded with six three-pointers in the first half en route to a 30-25 edge at the break.
A 6-0 run highlighted the Brown's offense as Owusu-Anane's three with 4:35 to go extended the Bears lead to 10.
Lesburt Jr. scored nine points in the first on 3-of-5 shooting from long distance to pace Brown. Lyndel Erold – making his first career start – was one of three Bears with four rebounds in the first, and Kalu Anya swatted away two shots.
Brown collected eight offensive rebounds and scored 13 second-chance points to Princeton's two.
SECOND HALF
Owusu-Anane went to the line for the first time for Brown a minute into the second half and kept the Bears lead at five after connecting on both.
Lilly Jr. and Lesburt Jr. scored back-to-back buckets, sandwiched by an Erold steal, to force a Princeton timeout with 16:26 remaining in regulation and a six-point Bears lead.
A technical foul gave Princeton its first lead of the second half with 6:26 left to play. The 14-0 Tigers run gave the home team a 66-57 lead going into the final media timeout, and Princeton held the nine-point cushion to defeat Brown 72-63.
Brown shot 52 percent from the field in the second half.
Caden Pierce posted 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead Princeton and three others reached double figures.

Brown heads to The Palestra tomorrow for a 6 p.m. tip against Penn. The Bears defeated the Quakers two weeks ago in the Pizzitola Sports Center. Penn fell to Yale 76-62 on Friday evening.
