Women's Tennis Drops ECAC Semifinal Match to Columbia

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Second-seeded Brown women's tennis fell in the semifinal round of the ECAC Championship to third-seeded Columbia, 4-1, Saturday at Harvard.

"Once again, great effort for our team in doubles," said Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "Nora and Vivian took care of business at line three doubles and Phoebe and Lindsey played great aggressive doubles when it counted most in the tiebreaker. In singles, it was a battle until the end, but Columbia was a bit tougher in pressure moments. We have another opportunity to compete tomorrow for third place against Princeton."

The Bears took the first point of the match after junior Lindsey Hofflander and sophomore Phoebe Peus won first doubles (7⁷-6⁴) and senior Nora Lee and sophomore Vivian Miller took third doubles (6-3).

Columbia then took four straight singles matches to take the upset win over Brown.

Brown will face top-seeded Princeton, who fell to fifth-seeded Yale, on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the fourth and third place match.
