Football Hosts Annual Career Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football program welcomed back over 50 alumni last Saturday, February 3 to its annual Career Day at the Berylson Family Football Complex.
The day started with coffee and a light breakfast for all attendees, which included all current members of the Brown football team and seniors who will be graduating this spring, as well as each of the alums who returned to campus to take part in the day's activities.
The group was briefed on the launch of the newly formed Brown Football Alumni Network (BFAN), a new LinkedIn-style website exclusively for members of the Brown football program and alumni, meant to serve as a networking tool and bring together an elite professional network post-graduation. The project was headed by Matt DeSutter '92 and current players Declan Boyle, Will Jarvis and John Perdue.
After presenting on several topics including overviews of each presenter's industry, typical job and career paths, industry characteristics and candidate profiles, the group had lunch before the keynote address.
The keynote speaker was Jose Yearwood '08, who spoke in a town hall style event in the Paul Sloan '97 Team Room, and was moderated by Matt Mullenax '08. Yearwood currently works for JPMorgan Chase as the Managing Director – Head U.S. Equity Sales, East Coast. Mullenax serves at the CEO of Huron Men's Products.
A few clips of Yearwood's and Mullenax's responses on networking and other topics can be found below.
After the town hall, the team split up into small breakout groups based on player's priority industries, meeting directly with alumni from that industry. Current freshman also had a separate session on how to get started in the workforce upon graduation.
