
Women's Basketball Falls Short to Rhode Island

KINGSTON, R.I.- The Brown women's basketball team fell short to the Rhode Island Rams 63-58, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior center Gianna Aiello posted her third double-double of the season in back-to-back games. Aiello netted 13 points and grabbed 20 rebounds against the Rams. She previously posted double-doubles against Johnson and Wales on Nov. 19 (14Â points, 13Â rebounds) and at Monmouth on Nov. 9 (23Â points, 14Â rebounds).
The contest was tight from tip-off, with both teams unable to score until three minutes into the game. The Bears and Rams showcased their offensive and defensive strength from the start.Â
Rhode Island's Harsimran Kaur started off the scoring for the Rams with a layup. Gianna Aiello kicked off the scoring for Brown in the same way.
Junior guard Grace Arnolie netted a jumper before the end of the quarter, cutting the Bears' deficit to four.
The scoring bounced back and forth ahead of the half. Arnolie collected seven points in the second quarter, leading the team in scoring. The Rams led 37-24 at the half.Â
Brown came into the fourth quarter ready to battle. Grace Arnolie opened up the quarter with a six point run, before Gianna Aiello scored on a Rhode Island turnover.
The Bears came close to the Rams at the end of the quarter, trailing by only six points. Rhode Island scored on two free throws extending their lead by eight. Arnolie rounded out the game with a three pointer buzzer-beater, finishing. out the game 63-58.
UP NEXT
The Bears will head to San Juan, Puerto Rico to compete in the Puerto Rico Clasico. Brown will face Kent State on Thanksgiving day at 2:30 p.m., and Colorado State on Nov. 30 at 2:30 p.m.
