Volleyball Falls to Top-Seeded Princeton in Semifinals

PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 4 seed Brown volleyball's season came to an end with a loss to No. 1 seed Princeton in straight-sets on Friday. Brown dropped the match 25-21, 25-10, 25-16.
Ally Panzloff and Hannah Flannery led Brown with six kills and Sophia Wolfson had five on a night where Brown's offense had a hard time getting going. Julia Kakkis finished the night with 21 assists. Overall, Brown hit just .071 as a team.
On defense, the Bears were led by seven digs from Jessie Golden and six from Eve McLaury. Gabby Derrick and Hannah Flannery each had four blocks to lead the team.
Senior Victoria Vo collected her 100th-career service ace early in the first set and the Bears built an 11-5 lead after another ace from Wolfson. A 3-0 run by the Bears with two kills by Flannery and a block from Derrick and Flannery put Brown back up six but Princeton battled back, tying the set at 18. Up 21-20, the Tigers scored four of the last five points for the set win.
Brown fell behind 8-1 in the second set and a 7-0 run later in the set put Princeton in full control of the set as Brown's offense hit -.304 in the frame.
The Bears found themselves in another early hole in the third, falling behind 10-5. Princeton increased its lead to nine after a 5-1 run. Brown fought off four match points for the Tigers but could not overcome the deficit.
