Men’s Basketball Travels to Canisius on Saturday

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Brown men's basketball team (2-3) will travel to Canisius (0-6) on Saturday, tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center.
Scott Cordischi and Russ Tyler '71 will bring you the action live on the Brown Varsity Network, fans can access the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or BrownBears.com. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN+.
College Hill Classic Recap
Brown finished the College Hill Classic with a 2-1 record with wins over New Hampshire (Nov. 15) and Sacred Heart (Nov. 17). Kino Lilly Jr. and Landon Lewis were named to the College Hill Classic All-Tournament Team.
Kino's World
In Brown's game against Holy Cross (Nov. 16), Kino Lilly Jr. connected on his 258th career three-pointer, making him the all-time program leader in three-pointers made. Lilly Jr. was named Ivy League Player of the Week after averaging 23.3 points and 4.3 assists per game on 48.3 percent shooting from three-point range at the College HIll Classic, he was also named to the Lou Henson Award Early-Season Watch List.
This season, Lilly Jr. is averaging 21.2 points per game on 45.3 shooting from the field and 46.2 shooting from three-point range. The senior is averaging 4.8 three-pointers per game and is on pace to break Brown's single-season record of 93 three-pointers made by Sean McGonagill during the 2013-14 season.
Lilly Jr's. 4.8 three-pointers per game ranks second in the nation and his 24 total triples ranks first in the nation, he also ranks 22nd in the nation with 106 total points.
History Made, The Chase Continues
Lilly Jr. is now the all-time program leader in program history with 260 three-pointers made. Lilly Jr. also sits fifth all-time with 1,512 career points, he is 155 points away from being the second-leading scorer in program history.
Lilly Jr. looks to become the fourth Bear to earn First Team All-Ivy honors in three consecutive seasons, the last player to do so was Jason Forte (2003-05).
Aaron Cooley Continues To Impress
Through five games this season, Aaron Cooley is averaging 11.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, the senior has recorded double-digit scoring efforts in four out of five games this season to go along with two double-doubles.
Cooley matched a career-bests scoring efforts in Brown's season opener at Siena (Nov. 4) as he poured in 15 points and 15 rebounds, 15 points matched a career-high and 15 rebounds was a career-high.
Cooley is shooting 45.7 percent from the floor this season and his 44 total rebounds ranks 32nd in the nation. Cooley's two double-doubles ranks 13th in the nation.
Lewis' Leap
In the absence of Nana Owusu-Anane, Landon Lewis has begun the season with double-digit scoring efforts in all five games this season. Lewis recorded his first-career double-double in Brown's win over Sacred Heart with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Lewis also recorded five blocks against Holy Cross and his 13 total blocks ranks fourth in the nation while his 2.60 blocks per game sits 22nd in the nation.
Lewis' 2.80 offensive rebounds per game ranks first in the Ivy League, the junior is averaging 13.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Welcome Back, AJ
AJ Lesburt Jr. returned to the Brown lineup for the College Hill Classic after missing the first two games of the season with an eye injury.
The junior had a career-best effort in Brown's 89-70 win over Sacred Heart with 22 points on 6-10 shooting from three-point range. Lesburt Jr. also recorded five rebounds in two out of the three games at the College Hill Classic.
Malcolm Joins The Lineup
Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson earned his first-career start in Brown's win over Sacred Heart, the sophomore scored a career-high 11 points on a perfect 5-5 shooting in the Bears' 89-70 win. Wrisby-Jefferson is averaging 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He's also shooting 61.5 percent from the floor through the first five games of the season.
Block Party
Brown ranks 22nd in the nation with 6.2 blocks per game, the Bears have accumulated at least five blocks in four out of five games this season.
The Bears have had two players who have recorded at least five blocks in a game this season: N'famara Dabo (Nov. 15) and Landon Lewis (Nov. 16). Lewis also rejected four shots in Brown's season opener at Siena, he ranks 18th in the nation with 2.6 blocks per game and sixth in the nation with 13 total blocks.
Dabo ranks 63rd in the nation with 1.80 blocks per game and 36th in the nation with nine total blocks. Lewis ranks first in the Ivy League in blocks per game and second with total blocks, Dabo ranks second in the same categories. Brown's 6.2 blocks per game also ranks first in the Ivy League.
Defensive Prowess
The Bears rank first in the Ivy League in opponent field goal percentage (40.1) and scoring defense (68.4). Brown is averaging 6.0 steals per game and 6.2 blocks per game while holding opponents to 33.6 shooting from beyond the arc.
Sharing The Wealth
Brown tallied 27 assists on 31 made field goals in its 89-70 win over Sacred Heart, 27 total assists is the 35th best performance nationally this season. The Bears' 27 assists was the most since they recorded 26 in an 88-42 win over Lyndon State (Jan. 12, 2015).
Providence Three Party
Brown's 15 three-pointers against Sacred Heart was the most since they hit 16 against Dartmouth (Mar. 2, 2024), that was the only time Brown connected on more than 15 three-pointers since the 2008-09 season. Since the 2015-16 season, Brown has hit 15 triples on five separate occasions.
Scouting Canisius
Canisius welcomes Brown seeking its first win of the 2024-25 season and the first under head coach Jim Christian. In their last contest, the Golden Griffins suffered a 108-37 loss at Maryland (Nov. 19).
Paul McMillian IV leads Canisius with 20.3 points per game, he's shooting 47.2 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from three-point range.
