Volleyball Set to Face Princeton in Volleyball Semifinals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball is set to take on the No. 1 seed Princeton at the Ivy League Volleyball Tournament on Friday (Nov. 22). The match against the Tigers is set to start at 4 p.m.

FIRST SERVE
- Brown will play in its third-straight Ivy League Tournament as the Bears come into the tournament as the No. 4 seed. Brown will face a familiar foe in the semifinals, taking on the No. 1 seed Princeton Tigers. Brown and Princeton have meet in each of the last two Ivy League semifinals with the Bears winning both matches in four sets.
- Brown closed out the regular season winning its last four matches and five of its last six matches to earn a spot in the ivy League Tournament. The Bears did so by winning two five-set matches, beating Dartmouth and Cornell, after starting the season 0-4 in matches that went the distance
- Princeton comes into the tournament as the No. 1 seed after posting a 12-2 record in the Ivy League. The Tigers are riding a six-game win streak and have won three of their last four matches in straight sets.
- Brown dropped both meetings with the Tigers this season, losing in straight sets at Princeton and falling in five sets at home.
- In the last three seasons, Brown has going 0-6 against Princeton in the regular season but has won both meetings in each of the last two Ivy League Tournaments.
- Brown has started to collect some Ivy League weekly honors as the Bears have started to heat up.
- Masha Sidorova earned her first-career Ivy League Player of the Week on Nov. 11 with her performances against Dartmouth and Harvard.
- Julia Kakkis has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week three times, including most recently on Nov. 11.
- Kayla Griebl earned her first Ivy League Player of the Week on Oct. 21.
- Victoria Vo sits one ace away from 100-career aces.
- Victoria Vo is the most recent member of the 1,000-dig club at Brown having reached the milestone against Penn on Oct. 5.
- Jessie Golden also reached the 1,000 dig mark in the match against Penn on Nov. 1.
- Senior Beau Vanderlaan is etching her name in the Brown record book when it comes to blocks. Vanderlaan reached 400-career blocks and became the second Bear to reach that mark in her career (Leyla Goldsmith '97 - 428).
- Vanderlaan also has a career blocks per set mark of 1.1, which would be the best number by a Bear in program history.
- Brown has made the Ivy League Tournament in all three seasons the tournament has been played.
- In the past two seasons, Brown has been the No. 3 seed and has beaten No. 2 Princeton in the semifinals. The Bears have dropped both Ivy League Tournament Championship games to Yale in four sets.
- Brown is looking for its first Ivy League title since 2021 when the Bears won the last Ivy League Championship not decided by a tournament. Brown went on the face Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament that season.
